From now on I'm going to use xanga as my "wellness" blog, so to speak. Both me and Ty have set goals for ourselves and I feel that writing about my personal journey daily will help me stay on track. I've talked to many women with PCOS who have claimed they've cured themselves with natural remedies and eventually were able to get pregnant, so I figured I'd give it a try.
My goal this week is to stick to an organic fruit and veggie diet. I'll be doing this from today until Friday to prep my body for a master cleanse, which me and Ty both will be starting on Saturday. Also today I began taking some herbal supplements, mainly chaste berry and gymnema, as well as a tea blend to promote female reproductive health. The chaste berry and tea, hopefully, will regulate menstruation. The gymnema should help with my insulin resistance because it's often recommended to diabetics. Cinnamon will also help level off blood sugar levels, so I'll probably be sprinkling lots of that on my fruit. My main concern right now is my fruit intake because of the sugar content. Already this morning I ate a dried date and an apple--lots of sugar! I may have to consider eating more veggies and staying away from fruit if I'm going to do this right. I'm also not sure if I can continue taking supplements during the cleanse, but I'll research that more indepth later on. I'm also using tea tree oil, witch hazel, and an organic mask on my face to help with the acne I already have, plus the ones that are certain to pop up when my body begins detoxing. And the peppermint oil is standing by to help with the detox headaches.
Then Saturday comes. I'm supposed to drink laxative tea the night before. Fun stuff. I'm not sure how the master cleanse tastes but it sounds really nasty. It consists of fresh lemon juice, water, raw maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. Yuck. I bought some cayenne in pill form so I won't have to add it to the drink mixture. Initially I was going to do a juice fast but a couple of people I've talked to swear by this cleanse. My goal is to get through the cleanse and then begin drinking lots of fresh juice to break the fast. We bought a juicer this weekend so we're all set. I can't wait to try it out. I'm also going to try and avoid all the chemicals I can during the cleanse. I already use mineral makeup, organic soap, lotion, and deoderant so I'll have to stock up on natural shampoo/conditioner and toothpaste, as well as anything else I can find. I read in the book The Great Physician's Rx for Health and Wellness that the skin soaks up 60% of what you put on it. That's scary to think I sat in a chlorine-filled hot tub over the weekend. Ugh.
I'm praying I can make it through to the end of the cleanse. I can't help but imagine that I'm going to cave in and fail miserably, so I'm making myself accountable by writing everything down here. If anyone has any advice, don't hesitate. :)
